Madaras Gallery |
Artist Diana Madaras is one of Southern Arizona’s most celebrated painters, known for her bold use of color, expressive style, and deep connection to the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Working in both watercolor and acrylic, her diverse portfolio ranges from vibrant desert landscapes and florals to wildlife and contemporary impressionistic works.
Originally from New Jersey, Diana earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Douglass College at Rutgers University before moving to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona, where she received a Master’s degree in Biomechanics. She later built and operated a successful sports marketing company for more than a decade before a life-changing painting trip to Greece inspired her to pursue art full time.
Today, Diana is recognized as one of Tucson’s most accomplished visual artists and has been voted Tucson’s Best Visual Artist multiple times. Her work has been featured in galleries, museums, resorts, private collections, and publications throughout the Southwest and beyond. She has completed commissioned works for luxury resorts including Westin, Loews, and Miraval, and her paintings have been collected internationally.
Beyond her artwork, Diana is equally admired for her philanthropic work and commitment to animal welfare. In 1999, she founded the Art for Animals Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping abused, injured, and orphaned animals through charitable fundraising and art-related events. Her community involvement and generosity have benefited numerous nonprofit organizations throughout Arizona.
Diana continues to paint from her Tucson studio, creating artwork that celebrates color, emotion, and the extraordinary beauty found in everyday moments. As she often says, “Painting fills me with joy.”
